Software Internship - Chol HaMoed

Hello Rabbi, moadim l’simchah. I am currently in the process of looking for work in the software field. Is it permitted on Chol HaMoed to search for positions, send résumés, and, if necessary, speak with recruiters? In addition, is it permitted on Chol HaMoed to work on a personal software project for the sake of learning and professional development, or to study topics in the field?

Any work that is not needed for the festival and is not a “davar ha’aved” — a matter involving potential loss — is forbidden.
