Blessing on Ginger - Zangvil
Question
What blessing does one recite on ginger?
Answer
Shalom u'vrachah
On ginger — zangvil — generally no blessing is recited over it, since it is used as a spice and is secondary to the food.
If one eats ginger by itself, its blessing is Shehakol, since it is not readily fit for pleasant eating.
However, candied ginger — which is fit to be eaten as it is — its blessing is Ha'adamah.
