A blessing over chewing gum in the middle of a meal
Question
Is one required to recite a blessing over chewing gum (a chewable food) in the middle of a meal? Does the ruling change if I had it in mind beforehand when reciting the blessing of Hamotzi, and what is the ruling if I did not have it in mind?
Answer
Shalom u’verachah
One must recite a blessing over chewing gum during a meal.
It does not help to have the chewing gum in mind at the beginning of the meal; in any case, one will need to recite a blessing.
