Question
Is it permissible to speak or listen to slander about a person when the story has already been published in a newspaper or the news?
Answer
It is permissible to tell and read, but it is forbidden to believe. If there are evident signs that it is true, it is also permissible to believe. A story that has been widely publicized is considered to have evident signs.
