Parkinson’s Disease and a Drop in Blood Pressure

Question

An 84-year-old woman with Parkinson’s disease has become weak due to insufficient drinking, and last week she experienced an episode of critically low blood pressure. According to the doctor, this was a result of insufficient drinking, which in her case borders on a life-threatening situation.
A. Is she permitted to eat meat this week?
B. Must she fast on Tisha B’Av?

Answer

Shalom u’vracha. 

A. If she needs it in order to regain strength, it is permitted. 

B. She should not fast.
