Pills for Easing the Fast of Tisha B'Av

What is the rabbi's opinion on taking pills to ease the fast (Kaltsum, Tzomkal, etc.) for healthy individuals?

It is permitted to take them.
This year, when the eve of Tisha B'Av falls on Shabbat, the pill should be mixed with food or drink before Shabbat, so it does not appear as if one is taking medicine on Shabbat.
