Publishing Family Photos Online
Question
To the honorable Rabbi shlita,
We were orphaned from our mother, of blessed memory, at a young age. Recently, the family members divided up photographs, keepsakes, and jewelry, and each person received some of the items that had belonged to our mother.
Recently, one of the sisters has been posting online various photographs connected to our mother, and sometimes also family photos in which additional family members appear. Although she blurs the faces of those who do not wish to be exposed, the very publication of the photos greatly bothers us, and we do not want it.
Our question is:
A. Is she permitted to publish family photos in which we appear, even if our faces are blurred, when this causes us discomfort and we object to the publication?
B. Do we have the right to demand that she not publish online photos and materials connected to our mother, of blessed memory, when these are family and private matters, or may she claim that these are her personal affairs and that others have no right to interfere?
