Calculating Ma’aser Kesafim from Stock Trading
Question
Hello,
I wanted to ask a question regarding ma’aser kesafim. I sometimes buy stocks; sometimes I profit and sometimes I lose. My question is: with regard to ma’aser kesafim, may I offset the loss against the profit, or must I in any case separate ma’aser from each transaction on which I made a profit?
Thank you in advance
Answer
Shalom u’vrachah.
There is no need to separate ma’aser from every individual profit.
One should set a time each year to calculate the total profits and losses, and pay ma’aser from the net profit.
