Car Gemach - Covering Expenses
Question
Shalom u’vrachah. I bought a car from a friend for 4,000 NIS using ma’aser money, in order to operate a car gemach in the yeshiva where I learn. When I use the car, must I pay like the other users according to the daily usage rate, since the car was purchased with ma’aser money? Or may I pay less, because I manage the gemach, deal with repairs, and pay for the car insurance in my name, such that in the event of accidents my insurance may become more expensive? Thank you very much.
Answer
Shalom u’vrachah
You may calculate how much you pay for insurance and how much you pay for repairs, and take trips for yourself according to the value of your expenses.
