Investing Maaser Funds in a Provident Fund

Question

I saw that the rabbi holds that it is permissible to save maaser money for the needs of the children’s weddings, but that it is forbidden to invest the money in a provident fund in the meantime. I wanted to ask what the reason is, and also what the law is regarding a monetary fund where there are no declines, only increases?

Answer

Shalom u’vrachah

The reason to forbid it is not because of the possibility of a decline. Rather, it is because in the meantime the money is supposed to go to tzedakah, and not be sitting in a bank or in a provident fund.
