Mourning – Musical prayer on Chol HaMoed

Question

Is a mourner allowed to participate in a musical prayer service on Chol HaMoed, in which musical instruments are played?

Answer

Shalom u-veracha 

It is forbidden. Since even on Chol HaMoed a mourner is forbidden to listen to music.

Rema, Orach Chaim 660:2, that a mourner does not circle in the Hoshanot, since it is akin to dancing, and it is explained that even though it is on Chol HaMoed, it is forbidden.
