Kiddush on Friday Night on Mezonot

Hello,
Is it permissible on Friday night to make Kiddush and then eat mezonot, and later in the night have the Shabbat meal? This question is very relevant this week, as it is necessary to break the fast.

If it is not possible to make Kiddush on bread, it is permissible to do so on mezonot.
