According to Ashkenazic custom, is it permitted to warm schnitzels on Shabbat on a second level — on top of the pot of cholent?

It is permitted to warm dry food on top of a pot that is on the fire and contains food. [Many also customarily permit doing so even on a pot that does not contain food].
