Breastfeeding in a Public Park

Question

Is a woman permitted to breastfeed in a public park when she is covered with a nursing cover? Also, is she permitted to breastfeed in her parents’ home when brothers-in-law are present there, or must she move to a place where men will certainly not pass by?

Answer

Shalom u’verachah

One should not breastfeed in the presence of others, even when the body is covered as required by halachah. This includes brothers-in-law and other relatives, apart from members of her family.

If the baby is in great need at that moment, it is permitted to breastfeed in the presence of others by covering properly.
