Juicing Carrots in the Sabbatical Year

Question

Is it permissible to juice carrots for carrot juice?

Answer

Fruits and vegetables that are typically juiced, such as carrots, pomegranates, apples, and the like, raise a question about whether it is permissible to juice them [since one could argue that because this is the usual practice, it is not considered extracting juice, and even though the reason mentioned in the previous section that it is considered crushing the fruit does not apply here], and one may lean towards leniency.
