Waiting Between Cheese and Meat

Question

How long must one wait between cheese and meat? I heard that there is a difference between various types of cheese; what is the general rule regarding this?

Answer

Shalom u’vracha

After hard yellow cheese, one must wait 6 hours.

The poskim disagree as to whether, after regular yellow cheese, one must wait 6 hours before eating meat. The ruling of our teacher Rabbi Amram Fried shlita is to be stringent in this matter, except in the context of a seudat mitzvah and the like.

Other cheeses, whether firm or soft, do not require waiting 6 hours.

And this is the practice: whenever the cheese is hard, one does not eat even poultry after it, just as with cheese after meat.
