A Pot That Became Non-Kosher — Uncertainty About Teflon
Question
I have a pot that became non-kosher. When I went to perform hagalah on it, I was told that it is made of Teflon and that hagalah is not effective for it. How can I know whether the pot is really Teflon? In my opinion it is not, because it is a very simple and inexpensive pot. In any case, it is very thin (and from what I know, pots that are cast Teflon are usually thicker), and only its coating looks like imitation marble—black with white dots. But because of the price, I tend to think it is not real Teflon but a simple imitation. The question is: how does one know whether it is real Teflon or just a material that imitates its appearance, and consequently—whether hagalah is effective for it or not?
I will note that the way it became non-kosher was as follows: I placed the dairy pot on an electric stovetop on which meat residue had remained, and the residue stuck to the bottom of the pot, which is certainly metal.

Hagalah is not effective for it.
There is no special halacha regarding “Teflon”; hagalah is not effective for any coating.
