Kashering new cutlery

Is it necessary to kasher new cutlery, as well as a peeler, or is the stringency only with regard to pots?

One is stringent to kasher metal utensils only when they are used with boiling (very hot) contents, and they are not coated with an external coating (such as Teflon, enamel, etc.).
