Checking Olives for Concern of Worms

Question

Must canned olives, whether whole or sliced, be checked for concern of worms? Is the halacha different when there is a mehudar kashrut certification? If they must be checked, how is this done?

Answer

Shalom u’vracha

One must check that there are no dark brown spots there, which could indicate worms inside.

Light brown spots are not a sign of infestation.

There is no difference between sliced olives and whole olives.
