Yom Kippur Fast — After Psychiatric Hospitalization

A person who is dealing with emotional/mental difficulty, takes psychiatric medications regularly, was discharged from hospitalization about a month ago, and still suffers from great mental and physical weakness: may he drink in measured amounts on Yom Kippur, or at least be connected to an IV before the fast in order to receive fluids during the fast?

According to the law, he is not required to fast. 

He may begin fasting for a few hours, and as soon as he feels weakness, he should eat and drink as usual.
