The Fast of Tisha B’Av — Psychiatric Hospitalization

Question

How should one conduct oneself on Tisha B’Av?
I am hospitalized in a psychiatric ward.
I take pills 3 times a day, with something to drink...
Also, there are pills that require eating beforehand.
In addition, one is supposed to sit only on the floor.
Is it permitted to sit on the floor without anything separating me from it?

Answer

Hello and blessings.

In this situation, you do not need to fast at all.

According to Kabbalah, one should not sit on the floor without something separating one from it.
