Hernia Surgery on Rosh Chodesh Av

Question

I have been scheduled for hernia surgery on the night of Rosh Chodesh Av. The surgery can be postponed, and most of the time there is no distress or pain, although occasionally there is strong pain that limits me for several hours or days
Should I postpone it until after Tisha B’Av?
And what if it would only be possible a month later?
 Thank you very much

Answer

Shalom u’vrachah, and may you have a complete recovery.

It is permitted to have the surgery on Rosh Chodesh Av, and there is no need to postpone it.
