How do you kasher countertops for Passover?

Hello,
The proper way to kasher countertops is to thoroughly clean them, pour boiling water from a primary vessel [the vessel in which the water was heated] over the countertop, and then cover it.
In cases where pouring is not possible [for example, there are types of countertops that are damaged by water], one can suffice with thorough cleaning and covering the surfaces.
