Prayer after Dozing Off
Question
I travel to work by bus.
And I doze off a little on the way,
May I, when I get off the bus, begin to pray? And then say Shema at work?
Is this permissible considering that I have no way to wash my hands after this sleep? Is this considered sleep that requires netilat yadayim? Or since it is not really a proper sleep, but rather just dozing, is there no need?
And if I do need to wash, is it enough to wash with water from my bottle, or must I specifically perform netilat yadayim?
Answer
Shalom u’vrachah.
Since this is not actual sleep, there is no obligation to wash your hands before prayer.
