Treatment of an untied tzitzit

Question

My tzitzit keep getting untied, especially after washing. What can I do to keep them intact and prevent them from getting untied? Can I put scotch tape on the end of the thread, and is there any halachic issue with that?

Answer

Greetings,
There is a halachic issue when the threads become loose and separate, and the best solution is immediately after buying the tzitzit to dip the end of each thread in adhesive. It is preferable to use a special adhesive for tzitzit, which can be purchased in stores that specialize in sacred items. It is also available on various websites [by searching for tzitzit adhesive, you will find many websites that sell the product with home delivery].
