Abraham's Egyptian "Exodus" vs "The" Exodus

Question

Greetings Rabbi from a Christian, I hope you can provide an answer or guidance. What is the meaning of Egypt ? To re-frame that question, both of our Faiths understand the importance of the deliverance from Pharaoh to the Promised land from Egypt. However, I haven't seen much emphasis or teaching on the same exact "route" that occurred before the Exodus... that of Abraham. Going from Ur of the Chaleans to what would later become the Promised Land to Egypt and then back to the Promised Land region, his story followed the same path of Jacobs ancestors but we never really see it in the same light as the Exodus. What is the interpretation of Abraham and Sarah's travel to and exodus from Egypt ?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for writing.

Indeed, there is no connection between Abraham's route to Egypt and the route of the Exodus.
