Fasting as a Diabetic

Question

I was recently diagnosed as diabetic and am on insulin. I want to know how to avoid a low blood sugar situation on Tisha b’Av and Yom Kippur. Thanks

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

One who is taking insulin does not need to fast.

However, before Yom Kippur, be sure to reach out to a rabbi to discuss the possibility of eating in "shiurim" - eating minimal amounts of food and drink at different intervals.
