Underlays for Meat and Dairy Pots

Question

I have underlays on which pots are placed. Is it permissible to use them for both dairy and meat for the members of the Eastern (Sephardic) communities?

Answer

Shalom!
It is not appropriate to use the underlays regularly for both meat and dairy, as it is very common for spills and dampness to occur, which could easily lead to their becoming prohibited.
However, if they were used, and the underlay was dry and clean, the pots are not forbidden.
There is no difference in this law between Ashkenazim and Sephardim.
