From when is it forbidden to buy sweet potatoes in the market without supervision?
Answer
On the 3rd of Tishrei 5782, all produce of this type harvested from Rosh Hashanah is sanctified with the holiness of Shemitah, and there is a prohibition on commerce. However, according to the Rambam, the prohibition of sefichin applies from this time, but according to the Rash and the Ramban, the prohibition of sefichin will apply only from the time the species begins to grow in Shemitah, starting from the 16th of Tammuz 5782, there is produce that was sown in Shemitah.
