Damages Caused When I Was a Child

Question

When I was a child, out of mischief, I threw a stone and broke a neighbor's window. Am I obligated to pay?

Answer

According to the basic law, you are exempt from paying, but it is commendable, beyond the letter of the law, to compensate the neighbor for the damage.
