Keeping Ma'aser Funds

Question

I have ma'aser money every month. Is it possible to accumulate it with me for a period of several months and afterward give a respectable sum to someone in need, or am I obligated to transfer it immediately?

Answer

Hello and blessings 

It is permitted to keep it. In the meantime, it is proper to give it to a gemach so that the poor can benefit from the money in the interim.
