Transferring a Standing Order to Another Institution
Question
Shalom u’vrachah
I do not know whether this is a halachic question or a matter of outlook, but in any case I would be happy to receive your answer. I have a standing order to a certain network of kollelim, and I saw an advertisement in the newspaper from another network that has a promotion for anyone who sets up a standing order. I am unsure whether it is appropriate to cancel the standing order to the kollel to which I currently donate, and transfer the donation to a kollel that gives a benefit to those who donate to it.

Regarding the question of what is best to do: check which kollel is run by a talmid chacham and is intended for more serious and diligent avreichim.
As for the halachic question of whether it is permitted to cancel the standing order that you undertook for the first kollel:
If you did not commit to a specific number of months, you may cancel it after 12 months.
If you did commit to a specific number of months, it cannot be canceled without hatarat nedarim, because of vows of tzedakah.
