A Shabbat Vacation — from Maaser Funds
Question
May one pay for a gift for one’s parents, if it is something they greatly need:
a Shabbat getaway for the couple at a hotel, using the maaser funds of their married children?
a Shabbat getaway for the couple at a hotel, using the maaser funds of their married children?
Answer
Shalom u’vracha.
If, given their situation, this is a need for them, and they do not have the financial means to pay for it themselves, it is permitted to give from maaser funds.
