Medication to Prevent Nausea on Shabbat

Question

Is it permitted to take Bonjesta (a medication for pregnancy nausea) on Shabbat?

Answer

Hello and blessings

It is permitted to take medication on Shabbat when a person is considered “ill.”

The definition of an ill person in this regard is: either when one has become weak and needs to lie in bed because of the weakness, or when one’s entire body has become weak, and it is not merely a localized pain.

If the nausea has brought the woman to such a state, she may take the medication on Shabbat.

Even if she has not yet reached such weakness, but if she does not take the medication the nausea will bring her to this state, she may take the medication.
