Dividing the Meal on Rosh Hashanah That Falls on Shabbat

Question

On Rosh Hashanah that falls on Shabbat, is it permitted to divide the morning meal into two meals so that seudah shlishit will not be too close to sunset, even if it is not possible to pray Minchah between the two meals? Is there a concern of making an unnecessary blessing?

Answer

Shalom u’vrachah

It is permitted to divide it.

Care should be taken that the division include a sufficiently long time interval — at least half an hour.

It is good to go out and divert one’s attention, such as going out to pray Minchah, or alternatively taking a short walk outside the house, in order to create a complete hesech hada’at.
