Welcoming Shabbat or Honoring Shabbat

I try to welcome Shabbat twenty minutes before sunset. Fifteen minutes before sunset, I discovered a stain on my clothing that can be removed with water. What is preferable: welcoming Shabbat early or having clean clothing?
