Soaking Dishes on Shabbat to Ease Washing

When I put dishes in the sink, I run a stream of water to make washing dishes easier because at this stage the food is fresh. The question is whether I am allowed to do the same on Shabbat with dishes I don't need for Shabbat, because I am used to it, or is it considered preparing the dishes for washing after Shabbat?

It is not permissible to do so if the purpose is solely to prepare for after Shabbat.

However, it is allowed to wash hands or dishes needed for Shabbat over dishes that are not needed for Shabbat, and they will be washed incidentally.
