Pumping Breast Milk on Shabbat
Question
Is it permissible to pump breast milk on Shabbat using an electric pump for a five-week-old baby?
Answer
If the baby does not eat other food, it is permissible to pump by setting a timer from Friday evening and placing the pump before it starts operating. If they did not manage to connect it before it started, it can be connected even after it has begun working.
