Partial Hearing of Kiddush

Question

Hello, A person who is a guest on Friday night at his father-in-law's house, and during Kiddush, his father-in-law swallows some of the words so that they cannot be understood, but the conclusion can be understood (Mekadesh HaShabbat, Borei Pri HaGafen). Does he fulfill the obligation of Kiddush? And should he simply listen?

Answer

Hello

In such a case, it is advisable for the listener to quietly recite the Kiddush text himself, intending that he is saying it over the cup in his father-in-law's hand.
