Laundry on Friday

Is it permitted to do laundry on Friday?
Answer
Ezra's decree was to do laundry on Thursday so that Friday would be free for preparing for Shabbat. Nowadays, with washing machines, especially in large families where the machine needs to be run daily, leniency can be applied when necessary.
