Squeezing While Throwing into the Trash
Question
Water spilled on the table on Shabbat, and a paper napkin was placed over it. Since there was a lot of water, we were concerned about the prohibition of squeezing and did not touch the napkin. At the end of the meal, is it permitted to wrap up the plastic tablecloth in order to throw it into the trash, even though during the wrapping the napkin inside it will certainly be squeezed?
Answer
Greetings and blessings
It is permitted.
There is no benefit whatsoever from the squeezing, and the water that is squeezed out will be reabsorbed into the napkin after the tablecloth is released.
