Refrigerator without Sabbath Mode

Hello, A person is at his father-in-law's house, and the refrigerator does not have a Sabbath mode, but the light bulb was disconnected, and there is no light in the refrigerator from before the Sabbath. Is he allowed to open the refrigerator with a change? If not, how should he act if he knows that the household members ask him for help in getting things from the refrigerator?

It is not possible to open the refrigerator. Tell the household members the same.
