Joining a Sick Person in an Elevator on Shabbat

Is it permissible for family members to join a regular elevator on Shabbat or a festival when a foreign caregiver is taking an elderly nursing patient up in it?

It is forbidden.

Any additional weight creates a significant change in the electrical operation.
