Torah Study — Stories in the Gemara
Question
Does one fulfill the mitzvah of Torah study by learning: a) the medical remedies written in the Gemara; b) the stories written in the Gemara; c) the accounts about demons written in the Gemara?
Answer
Shalom and blessings.
Every part of the Gemara is Torah. In every part of the Gemara there are embedded words of ethical instruction and guidance, as well as the secrets of the Torah.
However, someone who is capable of studying sugyot in depth but suffices with a superficial study of the Torah’s stories is neglecting Torah study “in quality.”
