Publishing a Notice Against a Rabbi

Question

Shalom u’vracha. Is it permissible for me to publish a notice in the yeshiva against a certain rabbi, if it seems to me that my opinion differs from his, and as a result he will suffer harm (people will not buy what he maintains is proper to buy)?

Answer

Shalom u’vracha.

Disparaging a Torah scholar is a very serious matter, and one must be extremely careful regarding his honor.

In any case, it is forbidden to write a notice against that rabbi; the only discussion would be about writing a differing halachic opinion.

As for the matter itself, it is very rare for such a case to be permissible, because it involves lashon hara about that rabbi, and it is difficult for all seven conditions of the Chafetz Chaim’s heter to be fulfilled.

P.S. Are you a rabbi? If not, how can you dispute a rabbi?
