Kashrut of wigs.
Are lace wigs permitted? Which type is permitted? And what does the rabbi’s kashrut certification cover — the hair, or also the lace?

The ruling of our teacher Rabbi Amram Fried shlita is that lace wigs are forbidden, since they look exactly like the woman’s own hair.
There is no kashrut certification from the rabbi for wigs; there is only a certificate of reliability, stating that the importer is trusted to say that this hair did not come from India.
Of course, even hair that has a certificate of reliability may not be used to make a wig that has a problem of modesty.
