Respect for Talmid Chacham

Question

Shulchan Aruch Yore Deah siman רמב seif לא
What is the context / scenario this seif is discussing? Is the talmid chocham who is lesser in wisdom unable to speak of even a sourced teaching he knows of?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

This halacha is teaching us general etiquette and respect for those more learned than we are.

But, yes, if the lesser scholar sees that the greater scholar is making a mistake, he should indeed speak up respectfully and correct the greater scholar as per Choshen Mishpat 9:8.
