Question
We are registered with the welfare office because we have an autistic child. Our clothes dryer broke down, and we contacted the welfare office requesting assistance in purchasing a new dryer (we have debts of over 100,000 NIS, not including the mortgage). They offered us help from the Keren Yedidut, which I understand is a Christian organization. Are we permitted to receive help from them?
Answer
Hello and blessings
The ruling of our teacher Rabbi Amram Fried shlita is not to use money from the Keren Yedidut, since the purpose of their donations is to entice Jews toward missionary activity, God forbid.
