Participation of Grandparents in a Celebration During Mourning

Question

Grandparents who are in mourning, are they allowed to participate in their grandson's Bar Mitzvah?

Answer

They may participate, but should not wash hands for bread, unless they are serving as waiters, in which case they are permitted to wash hands for bread, even in Shabbat clothes.
