Chuppah — Shabbat Clothes During Mourning

Question

May a woman during her year of mourning who is going to a chuppah wear Shabbat clothes?

Answer

Shalom u'vracha.

If she is not a very close relative, she should wear a nice, moderate garment (between weekday and Shabbat attire).

The parents of the groom and bride, the grandparents, as well as the brothers and sisters, are permitted to wear Shabbat clothes.

And in a case of need, one may be lenient also for brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
